BlocksCAD: A New Tool to Teach STEAM in the Classroom - Einstein's Workshop

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Recent innovations using computer aided design (CAD) as a teaching tool have successfully engaging students in a wide range of learning environments. In this session, teachers will be shown a basic introductory CAD lesson for a short project that can easily be taught in the classroom and explore opportunities to integrate academic subjects (specifically math and engineering) into hands-on learning activities. This session will introduce teachers to BlocksCAD software, an open source, web-based, learning tool for students. Originally developed to teach elementary students as young as ten how to create their own 3D printed objects, BlocksCAD has been successfully applied in a range of learning environments in which students benefit from a visual, three-dimensional approach to understanding a variety of complex concepts Note: Teachers can use their own laptops or other devices to access program, as a limited number of laptops will be provided.
